With a foray of daring beauties forgoing natural hair colors and opting for colorful shades, we were surprised to see Salma Hayek, queen of classic beauty stepping out in Rose Gold!

Hayek, who typically stays clear of the daring hair colors, made her mark by debuting a rose gold and platinum mix on the Cannes Red Carpet.  Colorist Aura Friedman is the creator of the lustrous shade and we have to say we are big fans of the look and how Hayek switched it up on the carpet.

How would you achieve this look without a celebrity colorist may you ask?  We’ve got some tips and tricks on the trend that you could ask your stylist for, and inspiration photos below.

  1. Rose Gold Balayage- Ask your stylist to paint soft highlights towards the nape of the neck, rather than an all-over color.  This will look great with a base color anywhere from a dirty  blonde, to a light-brown hue in order to keep it more natural.

2. Drop the Base- If you already have a chocolately-brown hue, ask your stylist to input some red into the formula.  Doing so will already give your hair a reddish tone, so the rose-gold highlights will not look too overpowering.

3. Go Blonde- For those a bit more daring, opt for a more blonde shade (if your natural color is not blonde) and have the highlights painted in a more face-framing direction.  Try just a couple of highlights around the face to brighten all-over color.
