As I was looking for inspiration for a hairdo for an evening soiree, I came across the pictured look above from the Spring 2016 runway show of Cushnie Et Ochs. Overall, the brand has a super sexy and feminine style so I loved how this stacked geometric style added some power to the looks of the models. I decided it could add some power to my look too, transforming my two day old blow out from bordering on meh to stacked, veering on the path to fembot. Best yet, this style is easy to do and can certainly be worn straight or with rumpled waves. Click through to the notes to learn how to emulate this look. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

Sometimes with all of our modern styling tools it’s easy to forget about wet setting techniques; they seem outdated, difficult, fussy. But pin curls and finger waves retained their popularity for decades after the invention of the curling iron, and they still have their place today. Nothing looks as polished or lasts as long as a wet set. You can wear this style in the coils one day, brush it out into vintage waves the next, and tousle it into beachy bedhead the day after that.
