Shared with us by Peggie Huang, stylist at ARROJO Studio SoHo, we love both the artistry of this chunky plait on the bias, and the way the tail of the braid has been fanned out into wonderfully nonchalant wisps. Peggie was also kind enough to share her steps to creating this eye-catching look. Great for a night out, a weekend brunch, or even just keeping hair off of the neck in this Indian Summer, learn how to create it in the notes.

When I became a hairdresser fifteen years ago roots, frizz, and flyaways were all dirty words. In the early 2000s hair was sleek and straight. It was piecey and sometimes even greasy, but never unkempt. But in recent years frizz has come back in vogue. Fluffy texture has previously been popular in decades that celebrated glamour: the 30s, 40s, and 80s. The current fashion climate is more subdued than the 80s and less glitzy than the 30s, but there is a leaning towards luxury, a blend of the glittering and the comfortable. Frizzy hair can play up both bohemian and glitzy aesthetics. The key is knowing what textures and styles work well with a bit of flyaway fuzz.
