Once a runway for jaw-dropping femininity and daring Hollywood looks, the red carpet is transforming into more of street-style spectacle, especially for hair.  Case in point, the 2017 SAG Awards.  Noticeably absent were the hair-sprayed tresses and the over-the-top up-dos seen many times before at red-carpet events.  This time, there was a new look in town: The undone, street-inspired natural and wavy textures that are already ruling 2017. Chrissy Teigen, Brie Larson and Natalie Portman were just a few of the stars rocking natural tresses in a pinned-up or down style with perfectly imperfect presentation.  See below for more of my favorite SAG hair looks. –– Brittany Weiner

Great waves and beachy tendrils are my most wanted summer style, even if I’m no where near the surf. And for those of you who didn’t know, beach waves and short hair are not mutually exclusive. Whether your hair ends just at your collarbone or hangs by your ears, all you need to achieve #beachvibes is a great styler that encourages waves and texture and a whole lot of inspiration. To get you started I pulled together a collection of my favorite gals rocking collarbone-grazing waves in the notes. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

The 2016 Cannes Film Festival started last week in the French Riviera, marking the beginning of more than a week’s worth of fabulous parties and film premieres. So unlike other industry events, where we only get to see a few hours worth of prettiness, at Cannes we get a full 11 days. The red carpet at this event is always glamorous, but it’s not the gowns that deserve the most attention. Celebrities and it girls bring their best in beauty, amping up their hair and makeup. Thus far, I’ve loved Gaia Weiss’s faux-hawk braid and Susan Sarandon’s wavy bob. To see more of my favorite looks, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart  Click for StyleNotes →

If the word bangs conjures a traumatic memory of a thick, chunky mass of hair hanging over your forehead, you’re not alone. For many, bangs are second only to braces in terms of childhood embarrassment. These are not those bangs. These bangs fall past the cheekbone, taper into a delicate point and swing softly from either a center or a side part. Suki wears hers softly waved or silky straight. Sure, she got these bangs by growing out a more traditional fringe, but there’s no reason you can’t just ask for this perfectly lived-in length. Learn more about adding this fringe to your style in the notes. –– Laura Martin  Click for StyleNotes →

In case you missed it, last night was the biggest night of award season: the Oscars. And while most eyes were checking out the dresses, I was all about the hair and faces. An actress’s beauty look carries equal if not more importance to her outfit, as it’s the finishing touch that can make her unforgettable. There were many inspired styles on the night; my favorite’s include Jennifer Lawrence wearing her scintillating blonde casually down, Olivia Wilde’s side-parted braid bun, and Daisy Ridley’s intricate updo. I recommend pulling these looks into your files to use as inspiration for your next fancy event. To see more of my favorites, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →
