Happy Spring, beauty lovers! In addition to brighter more beautiful weather, Springtime brings us ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth.

Here at ARROJO, we are all about growth & bettering ourselves especially when it comes to our luscious locks. It’s time to give your hair routine a MAKEOVER!

Swap the Shampoo for a Co-Wash

Over washing your hair strips it of its natural oils, thus leaving it drier and more prone to breakage. It also fades color treated hair faster, causes more split ends, and dulls your hairs shine. Don’t ditch the shampoo entirely, but begin to transition into to a co-washing routine, where you eventually only wash your hair 1-3 x a week.

ReNEW CoWash, $20

Start Using Hair Oils/Serums

You take your vitamins everyday, and your hair should too! Using oil in your hair is a one-stop shop for hair health with multi-benefits ranging from heat protection, humidity protection, nourishment of dry damaged hair, added shine, etc. Don’t wait until you are graying to begin caring about hair health.

Shine Luxe Oil, $28

Healing Oil, $26

Defrizz Serum, $20

Apply a Weekly/ Monthly Mask

The face mask trend has taken off so far that I literally see people on the street wearing face masks- give your hair the same love with a weekly or monthly hair mask. Factors like weather, color treatment, and even your pillowcase can cause damage to hair over time, hair masks can bring your hair back to life.

Whipped Treatment, $28

Don’t Pick Up the Hot Tools Without Picking Up a Heat Protectant

This a big NO NO with an EASY fix. You wouldn’t sit on the beach all day without putting on sunscreen (I hope). It’s the same concept with heating up your hair. Why fry it when you can protect it & look cute at the same time.

 Protective Thickening Lotion, $25

Smoothing Iron, $240

Curling Wand, $125

Lean In: Match Your Hair Products To Your Hair Type

Stop using generic drug store shampoo. If you have color treated hair, get color-treated shampoo. If you are lacking moisture get moisturizing shampoo. If you have curly hair, get styling products specifically designed for curls. This will make all the difference not only with styling but with overall hair health. Find your niche & don’t look back!

Photo: Vogue Traveler

Next week, I’m getting out of Gotham and heading to sunny Miami. While I’m super excited, thinking about packing, getting passed the TSA, and finding a descent snack before boarding the plane drags me down. But more importantly, I want to look great during the trip, and upon arrival, as I’m traveling with my beau and we’re headed out immediately (hey, we’re young and carefree!) after we touch down. This is a common dilemma for us ladies on-the-go, so I asked around to get some insight on what the best hairstyles are for traveling. Based on my findings, I put together a great list of tips and tricks on what we should all be wearing next time we board a plane, train, or even automobile. Click through to the notes to learn what I found. Just don’t forget to pack your sunglasses! –– Michelle Rotbart
