2106 may have been all about the 90s but many of the latest editorials are celebrating the 80s, suggesting that colorful, glamorous, over the top style is about to come back into fashion. The December / January issue of Vogue Paris is a case in point. Tapping Kristen Stewart for the spread, the iconic glossy pairs her striking blonde pixie cut with the brightness and pop of the current  the resort and spring collections. In the early 2000s when I first became a stylist short haircuts were all about tendrils and points. Barbered edges, clean ends, and blunt texture were considered boyish or matronly, but over the years I’ve come to believe the exact opposite: putting boyish lines on feminine features actually emphasizes softness and flatters strength, creating looks that are feminine yet powerful. My favorite short cuts now are structured and powerful, but they still have details that feminize. What separates these looks from the boy’s?
