Perhaps musing over whether or not a 21st century version of an extravagant French queen would let them eat cronuts, CR Fashion Book dedicated their new issue to Marie Antoinette. The highlight is this delicious editorial, starring Lara Stone as the iconic royal. The racy, sexy images put Marie Antoinette into a modern cityscape wearing denim and dresses paired with a sensational messy updo accented with vines and twines. It’s great inspiration for vamping up any look. See all images below.  Click for StyleNotes →

So I recently learned about a new trending hair style called sexture, aka, next level bedhead, aka looks like you just finished a mind-blowing roll in the hay. While this isn’t exactly a new thing, I do love that it’s all about touchable, messy, voluminous, and textured tendrils. I mean, isn’t this the byproduct of a great act? You don’t need to get naked to achieve this look either, you can get it with some wave mist in your damp hair or some refinish dry shampoo in your second day strands. You can even reach for your heat styling tools to add some curls and then break up the waves with your fingers. It won’t take much to get you in the mood to try this trend out. To get you going, click through to the notes to see some of my favorite sexture styles. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

Bobs are great for their clean-lined simplicity, but on thick hair they can sometimes feel heavy or bulky, lacking the flow of longer, layered styles. These disconnected shapes offer a perfect solution, creating space by combing two disparate shapes on a single head without blending. The result is hair that naturally shifts and slides, at the place where the contrasting lines come together, creating swingy movement. You can enhance the separation between the shapes with color, creating visual contrast as pictured above, or go with a single color and opt for a softer look with all the same benefits.
