Now that it’s getting warmer, I’m noticing a lot more half-up do hairstyles. Blame it on Kate Middleton or perhaps even the Coachella crowd but this style is definitely in for summer. It combine two great aesthetics: polished and feminine. You can enjoy the done vibe of an updo that gets your hair out of your face and a sexy look of having your hair down. I also think they pair well with all the shoulder baring tops and dresses we will be seeing all season long. And of course they’re perfect for all your summer events, barbecues, and concerts. Sometimes fashion week beauty trends don’t always transfer well into real life; i.e., bedazzled face masks, exotic colors, wild hair accessories. But there’s one runway where many women let their fantasy’s run wild: Bridal Fashion week. The event brings together top weddingwear designers like Naeem Khan, Reem Acra and Lela Rose to showcase everything from sweeping chignons, floral crowns, and even crystal encrusted headphone hairbands. This gorgeous, inspirational hairstyle was sent to us by Aziza Rusulova, stylist at the renowned salon, ARROJO NYC. A pretty and romantic braided updo, it’s perfect for spring weddings. The beauty of this kind of look is that it keeps all hair off the face for special days (when you don’t want to be fidgeting) yet also provides a visually interesting texture for a style that is chic, memorable, and timeless. Aziza also sent us some simple steps for achieving a similar twine; for her tips, click style notes.

Spring brings warm weather, beautiful blossoms, and brides. Wedding season is here, and a slew of brides to be –– not to mention bridesmaids and wedding guests –– are stepping out in this season’s nuptial ensembles. Mermaid dresses, tulle, and rouching are big bridal trends this season, especially when paired with oversized gilded and jeweled hair pieces. These accessories offer the glamour of a tiara but have a more sophisticated vibe. Read the style notes for tips on wearing these stunning embellishments. –– Laura Martin
