braids paris

We haven’t seen the last of braids. Last week, as the fashion shows wrapped, Céline showcased sleek single strand twines to flatter the woman on-the-go. Proving again that Phoebe Philo and team know what women want, braids popped up on Parisian street styles this week too. Models and fashion insiders like Binx Walton, Michelle Elie, and Elaine Welteroth were all spotted wearing voluminous and playful braids. If these ladies are any indication of what’s to come for spring, you better get your braiding game on. Simple and modern, the hair at Céline always captures the mood of the season,  highlighting what real woman want to do with their looks. For Spring 2016, the beauty team sent clean and slick braids fastened at the center of the head down the runway. This isn’t the first time braids were seen this season. Public School, Proenza Schouler and J. W. Anderson all included streamlined plaits in their beauty looks. I love that all the variations look like they could be done by women at home. This look is fashion and function, a clean and uncomplicated look to get through a busy day. To see more styles from the Celine show, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart

Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 5.05.56 PMFringe isn’t just popular on clothes and accessories this season, I’ve spotted lots of brow-grazing strands across the foreheads of models on-and-off the runway. Fashion’s current interest with the ‘70s means bangs are definitely back. I saw lots of fringe at the European houses like Bottega Veneta, Céline, and Saint Laurent varying from punky to romantic. Stateside, Victoria Secret model Erin Heatheron just debuted a fresh cut on Instagram, along with a new blonde dye job just in time for spring. If you’re thinking of getting a new look, opt for a style like Erin’s soft, face-framing layers. You’ll ensure the grow-out phase won’t be a nightmare and you’ll be an instant cool chic. Nobody does the less is more look better than Celine. This season the effortless approach extended to the hair. The beauty team created an easy half-up, half down style and finished it off with a perfect circular gold barrette created by the brand. It was simple, polished, and pulled together. It’s amazing how one little detail can pull together a whole look. No word if the must have barrette will be on retail this spring, but we’re already scouring retail sites to find a similar option.
