How to Blowdry Hair with Lots of Lots of Volume

BLONDE, EVERYDAY, LONG, MODEL

2cce474739c8c9512ec1dfac6656c4d4

There’s lots of sixties and seventies inspiration around hairstyling at the moment –– think beach waves, center-parts, texture, movement, and backcombing –– which makes  the big, volumized blow-out with a waving center-part one of trendiest, funnest, and sexiest styles to try. For anyone with length, a version of the pictured style is easy to do. It’s a good idea to make the center-part slightly off-center to avoid splitting face down the middle; other than that, it’s simply a matter of picking the right products and tools, and spending a few minutes by the mirror. Romantic Center Part and Soft Waves

BLONDE, BRUNETTE, EVERYDAY, LONG, MODEL, NOTED

image

Spring is the season for romance; billowy fabrics, floral prints, and open necklines hint at youth, innocence, and sensuality. Nude makeup with bold lips gives a look of sultry freshness that pairs perfectly with natural waves and a center part, as shown here. Pinning the front of the hairstyle back lends an open feeling and a hint of renaissance charm, while beachy waves and sleek roots add sixties, free-love looseness. Get this easy, idyllic style in a few simple steps. –– Laura Martin

From Our Archives: Olivia Palermo’s Gorgeous Chestnut Waves

BLOGGER, BRUNETTE, COLOR, CUT, EVERYDAY, MEDIUM, NOTED, SEXY, STYLE

Even for Olivia, this is a stand-out style. A vintage, fashionable look, it follows the seventies-inspired trend for the drop down wave –– a wave that goes from straight at the crown to tousled down below –– but features a lustrous, modern take. The shiny chestnut brown and the bountiful shape of the tumbling waves combine to create a sultry and seductive, yet elegant and beautiful aesthetic. Wear this style on a romantic date night!

How To Wear Center-Parted Bangs

BRUNETTE, CELEBRITY, EVERYDAY, LONG, RED

Image 3-9-13 at 9.41 AM

Zooey Deschanel, Alexa Chung, and Bella Thorne have refreshed their looks with this pretty trend. Center-parted bangs are a great option if you’re transitioning from a straight heavy fringe to a side sweep, growing out a short bang, or looking for a low maintenance, feature-framing option. The middle split and slightly imperfect finish lend a sexy bohemian vibe to this brow-dusting accent. Bangs perform many functions from disguising prominent foreheads to emphasizing cheekbones, but many women avoid them for fear of maintenance and styling challenges. The tousled finish of this bang requires little effort and the parting pushes hair to the sides for long-lasting shape that is easy to grow out. Click the style notes for tips on styling and maintaining this fringe. –– Laura Martin
