Coco Rocha is the star of the new Balmain Hair Couture campaign. The Canadian model became the face –– and hair –– of the brand’s ‘Icons’ line. Lensed by An Le in NYC, the images reflect a big city girl on the go as Gotham stands in her wake. What we love is the transformation of hair color; normally a brunette, Coca became platinum blonde bombshell for this campaign as an illustration of the power of reinvention. If platinum blonde is a look you’ve always dreamed about, we say break your boundaries and go for it. Featuring a tapered nape and short lengths downs the sides, the shiny brunette tones and smooth surface create a dramatic, attention-grabbing finish. We also love how the sleek silhouette of this cut frames and highlights Coca’s beguiling high cheekbones. The sultry, off-the-face drama of the ‘wet look’ is always popular during Fashion Week as pulling the hair back is an easy way to ensure hair doesn’t take real estate away from the clothes, while the high cheekbones of an atypical model perfectly suits the style. Images from the runways tend to send fashionistas into a frenzy; everybody wants to recreate the style du jour. Coco Rocha wears it best, so she’s the ideal muse should you want to try this look. Seen here on Coco’s short hair, the wet look works with any length, it’s just a matter of slicking it back with the right product and technique. For our tips, click style notes.
