Last night, the pretty and the privileged got together to award themselves Golden Statuettes at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The best part of this glorified advertisement is of course the red carpet, where our leading ladies sway and sashay in the most gilded of gowns, and the hair and makeup sets the tone for the palettes of the spring season. Marking the spot for the monochrome beauty trend, Emma Roberts’ sleek strawberry blonde hair and matte red lips were elegant and chic. Featuring a a side-parted sweep with ribbons of soft curls, the strawberry tones are a great fit for Emma’s complexion, while with the hair tucked back on one side and falling forwards on the other, the admirer’s eyes are encouraged to take in the whole face-frame. Before making the chop, Emma often wore her long locks in half-up styles. At the recent H&M fashion show, she applied the technique to her wavy lob. The glossy finish and side-swept front feel elegant and sweet. A bit of height at the crown adds drama. It’s a classic, simple style that pairs beautifully with Emma’s subtle cat eye and matte lips. Emma Roberts recently made a splash on the new series Scream Queens. I am a huge fan of horror, even if it is cliché horror, so I love this show. I also loved Emma on American Horror Story, but I wasn’t as in love with her hair then. This longer, softer, and a bit more golden look suits her so well. A great classic blonde can work for any season and for anyone, its just about making minor tweaks to the hue to make it work for you skin tone. Click the notes for more. –– Kelly Rowe
Whatever way fashion swings, a red lip and a bob will always look good. Attending the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Emma Roberts took this tack for her darling ‘do. More like a whisper in the ear than a cat call, it may be understated, but it is also beautiful. A modern, jaw-length bob with soft and gentle layers promotes the illusion of extra thickness and volume while the soft lines and shape help to show off the health of her hair. The side-swept bangs showcase classic style and it’s a great way to elongate the features of the face, drawing attention to a big smile. For tips on styling similar looks, click style notes.
