macron hair

In fashion color has become a major way to identify oneself, and the same goes with beauty. In another update on the pastel and rainbow hair trend, macaron color was posted on the internet this week by colorist Shelley Gregory. Gregory was inspired by the macaroons and sweets at the legendary Ladurée, a French luxury bakery. To create the light and vibrant strands, Gregory hand-painted different shades of pastel colors in layers onto sections of hair. The process is similar to the sand art technique but gives the hair a more ethereal and romantic, dream-like appeal. This look is definitely delicious and can even be pulled off in a chic manner, just make sure a professional is creating it. There’s something magically alluring about the idea of an ethereal being, whether it’s the ghostly aspect or that they seem not of this world. And with the current interest in fairytales in entertainment, it’s no surprise that couturiers were inspired by spirits this season. From the delicate floral wreaths serving as an anchor for the nymph-like gowns at Atelier Versace to the gilded accessories and low-slung plaits see at Elie Saab and Valentino, ethereal hair styles is a look we’ll see continue through upcoming seasons. We love any styles that emphasize a soft and carefree attitude. Which is why we’re especially into the easy waves adorned with an ethereal gold headband and adornments at the Valentino 2015 show. Highly romantic and delicately imperfect this style conjures our favorite memories of sun and sea. It’s a lovely deconstructed flowing style that’s easy to recreate and can be easily worn all year long. To learn how to emulate this ethereal style, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart

In the summer braids have the duel benefit of being bohemian-chic and keeping hair off your neck; together these elements keep you looking and feeling cool in the heat. Twined crowns is one of the most popular styles. As this look usually goes from ear to ear, placing it in the front gives you a nice point of difference, and a visually interesting style. This ethereal take is a great example of how such a shape can add femininity and charm to any head of hair. Learn how to create crown braids from the front in the style notes.

Here’s fun! We don’t get to see German bombshell Claudia Schiffer hocking her wares so much any more so it’s nice to see her out and about. Returning as the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s fall-winter 2014 campaign, Claudia finds herself in an enchanted forest, part medieval, part fairytale, with a few gentlemen suitors thrown in. Colorful, bewitching, and with some great hairstyles and handbags, you can see the full spread in the style notes.
