Fashion month is in full swing in New York City and I’m predicting there will be an assortment of changes in fashion and beauty. One thing that’s staying the same? Enviable, looks-complicated-but-isn’t hairstyles. I’ve seen braids and ponytails come and go and have loved most, but I’ve always held on to the knotted ponytail. It’s an easy update to the classic ponytail and requires no hot tools or braiding skills. A win all around. So even if you don’t know what will be in next season quite yet, this look transcends time. It’s almost the springtime, which means many of us want to chop off tendrils and start anew. If you are thinking of a cut, why not use some inspiration from this past fashion month? Based on what I saw, the statement cut is definitely back in. No more meh long locks, the coolest models and it girls are rocking a variety of look at me dos. Think soft pixies, crops, and shags. And of course texture is so in right now that any cut you choose will truly be you. Click through to style notes for more inspiration. Choose your favorite and bring it in to your stylist. You’ll be fresh for spring in no time. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

For top models like Karlie Kloss, February is one of the busiest months of the year with fashion weeks in New York, Paris, London and Milan. Lesser-knowns may only walk in a couple of shows, but an in-demand model like Karlie wears the full range of a season’s trends over the course of a few weeks. Karlie’s fashion week looks range from bombshell volume to no nonsense braids, these are the trends to try in the upcoming year. The street style stars of Paris have quite the spring in their step, or at least in their tendril. Perhaps its because fashion month is almost over or the city’s humid weather or even better they’re all embracing the unofficial Parisian girl uniform of air-dried texture. Loose waves and tousled curls have literally dominated the streets and even appeared several times on the runways. It’s going to be another great season for bends and coils. Take notes ladies, put down the brushes and grab some whip and air-dry your locks. Texture is in this season. Every fashion month, I look most forward to London Fashion Week. Though it’s the shortest, I find it to always be the most creative in terms of fashion and beauty. Designers in London actually take chances, creating avant garde looks that are incredibly inspirational and actually exciting to look at. For me, even more exciting than the runway, is the backstage. It’s a great look at the beauty process and gives you an insider view at what it takes to put together an amazing look.
