flowercrowns

For hundreds of years in folklore and history, beautiful maidens donned garlands of freshly picked florals on their heads in celebration of the spring equinox, where they danced to music in open fields to ensure a year of prosperity and fertility. Today, the spring ceremonies are sponsored by Sephora, but the tradition of wearing floral wreathes––now paired with the latest fashion from H&M––lives on. And though every season, I think florals are nothing new, they continue to be revived on the runway and on the festival scene as glorious headpieces in celebration of the new and blooming season. Okay, so it’s still cold outside but the days are starting to get longer and spring is starting to seem closer. If you’re anything like me that means you’re already finding creative ways to wear open-toed shoes and bronzer, anything to pretend spring is already here. Flowered headbands are a great way to incorporate spring beauty into your late-winter ensembles. Click the style notes for tips on how to wear the look. –– Laura Martin
