Messy buns have become more than just ideal for lazy Sunday brunch, they’re now accepted as an everyday go to for many women. Even celebrities and models are tying up their topknots, on duty! There is just something so desirable about getting a perfectly imperfect style with minimal effort. Lucky for us lazy gals, this style is basic to execute. If you can put your hair up in a ponytail then you too can rock this look. It’s the freshest way to look cool for spring. A ponytail is usually the first hairstyle we ever learn to do, but chances are you may still be struggling to keep it looking new even today. Though it’s good to keep it simple sometimes it’s fun to switch it up with unique nuances like adding in a braid or a loop or an accessory. I’m always looking for inspiration for hairstyles on the runway, in editorials, and even on the street. So I was so excited when I saw a super cool  chic rocking a look that was part pony part braid over the weekend. I literally stopped her to ask how she did her hair and was surprised to find out it was so totally easy. No need for professional skills, just a few basics steps.  To learn how to emulate this look, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

The bouffant may never come back in full 1960s glory, but revamped versions are experiencing a resurgence. Ever since Lana Del Ray reinvented big hair, we’ve been seeing variations on styles like the beehive and bouffant. The version shown here is soft and shiny, with a glamorous deep side part and big twirled curls. Learn to create this reimagined retro shape in the notes. –– Laura Martin  Click for StyleNotes →
