If anyone has ever told you that you can’t look cute in rainwear- send them this link.

Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a 30 feet high waterfall, complete with “caves” underneath where the models sauntered out from. The set was truly a wonder, but there was also a message: Chanel referred the set as an “ephemeral landscape,” hinting at the environmental issues facing our world.

Last week’s Fendi Fall 2016 Couture collection was beyond enchanting. The collection, a full-blown couture fantasy, was inspired by a 1914 book of fairy tales, East of the Sun and West of the Moon. Karl Lagerfeld pulled much of the inspiration directly from the illustrations in the book, including plenty of beautiful details like empire waists, bell sleeves, floral details, wispy dresses and plenty of fur accents. And of course, fairy tale creations require fantasy hair, which the beauty team interpreted as a mixture of Pre-Raphaelite damsel meets Scarlett O’Hara. The models’ hair was parted in the center and curled into soft and fuzzy ringlets, tied half up, and finished off with pastel ribbons. Talk about inspiration for your next Midsummer Night’s Dream party! To see more looks from this surreal summer show, click through to the notes. –– Michelle Rotbart  Click for StyleNotes →

chanel brunettes
After looking over the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2015 collection it’s clear that Karl Lagerfeld is into brunettes. There were 67 looks this show and not one was a blonde, not even a bronde! All the models strutting down the casino-themed catwalk wore the same jet-black, bobbed wigs cut on a very dramatic angle. Could this be a swing in the dark direction? I’m certainly for it! With the Fashion Kaiser’s seal of approval I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more brunette bobs on and off the runway this upcoming season.
