With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, we must pay respect here at Style Noted to the fashionable and fabulous mother/daughter duos of the style world. In order to do so, we browsed and perused the glossies, the internet and our own memories in order to compile a list of the most beautiful of them all (with great hair, of course). See below for our picks on the best manes.

The Met Gala is most notably known as a star-studded evening filled with glitterati and paparazzi honoring a designer of choosing, and this year’s honoree was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcon.  As daring as the fashion choices were (as to be expected with such an eponymous designer), we saw everything from peacock-adorned dresses to wearable forms of art such Rihanna’s sculptural, multi-layered gown.  With such an outlandish and exaggerated theme, it would only be expected that hair and makeup would be be competing to be outrageous and forthright as well.

With texture trending, there were a surprising amount of slicked center-part bobs, which were a nice breath of fresh air.  Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid were those who opted for the classic style, while others such as Rose Byrne and Gigi Hadid took a more tousled approach paying homage to natural textures.

Even more daring, was Zendaya Coleman who stepped out in more of an editorial-inspired shoulder grazing, three-dimensional texturized look.

Gearing up to more jaw-dropping looks were those such as Kate Hudson, who donned a silver-bleached  exaggerated top knot and even more daring was Cara Delevingne with what seemed to be a silver-painted, bedazzled freshly painted buzzed head.

And the most Avant-Garde of them all?  Katy Perry, who ditched the hair-scene overall by covering her locks with a red voluminous veil.

So might you ask yourself our favorites over here at Style Noted Towers?  Lets start with Lily Collins’ blunt, dark brown bob and Rihanna’s piece-y top knot with textured bangs.  We also were a big fan of J-Lo’s flowing locks that made us reminisce of repunzel.

This year’s Golden Globe styles were a bit more exciting than previous years. While glittering frocks and long lengths were a plenty, I did spot a great evening suit on Taylor Schilling and a crop top on Kate Hudson. Hair-wise, polished and primped hair worn by Lady Gaga and Cate Blanchett stole the show. Funny gals Uzo Aduba and Melissa McCarthy kept their looks lively with textured and wavy tendrils and Zoe Kazan was standout with a super-smooth, geometric bob. This was not a red carpet for shrinking violets. To see my favorite celebrity styles from the red-carpet, click through to the notes. — Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

Bitter or sweet, what’s your flavor? That’s the burning question of the Campari Calendar for 2016, starring Kate Hudson. In the pictures, the blonde bombshell plays the role of opposing political candidates –– Bitter and Sweet –– as means to reflect the flavor combinations of the Italian drink. Shot by Michelangelo Di Battista, the images are beautiful, and so is the hair. In the notes, see Kate at her most bittersweet.  Click for StyleNotes →
