I love undone and messy waves. They’re a great visual cue for telling the world “I’m the Parisian girlfriend of a rock star and I like to lounge along the Champs-Élysées, looking cool. If I can’t be bothered with that, see me by the beach as a laid back surfer chick.” Ah, The Life!  Perfectly imperfect bobs may make you think of the new global glitterati effortlessly sauntering towards their next ridiculously perfect Instagram photo but don’t be fooled, it takes work to look as easy-breezy as this.  So if you’re jonesing for the perfectly imperfect wave, click through to the notes to learn the steps it take to look so cool. –– Michelle Rotbart

If the beauty looks from the Fall 2016 collections taught me anything, it’s that the prim coifs are back in style. This can be difficult for many of us to handle, since most of us are used to rocking either messy waves or throwing up our messy waves into a messy bun as we rush from barre class to the bar. The answer to this hair dilemma? The U-shaped hair pin.  It’s a ’90s era hair accessory that cool girls like Kate Moss used to wear to achieve their signature look. It’s an effortless accessory that is sleek and classic. And don’t let it overwhelm you, to wear just push the pin upwards and then twist it around, grounding it down in to your hair. kristen wiig

You can’t not help but love Kristen Wiig, not only is the leading lady incredibly humorous, she’s also incredibly beautiful. Over the years, she’s debuted a number of stand out looks, but her tousled ponytail worn at the premiere of Nasty Baby is by far my favorite. It’s equal parts easy and fresh and chic. A look that is great for the red carpet and every day. Are you ready to try on this look? Click through to style notes for the how-to. — Michelle Rotbart

valentino hair

We love any styles that emphasize a soft and carefree attitude. Which is why we’re especially into the easy waves adorned with an ethereal gold headband and adornments at the Valentino 2015 show. Highly romantic and delicately imperfect this style conjures our favorite memories of sun and sea. It’s a lovely deconstructed flowing style that’s easy to recreate and can be easily worn all year long. To learn how to emulate this ethereal style, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart
