Earlier in the week we took at look at a dip-dyed Balmain pony; now, in a season in which the brand is bringing fierce femininity to everything it does, we take a look at their runway versions of the look. Designer Olivier Rousteing primped his girl army with matching, uniformly slick, high ponytails. The look was smooth, long and super straight, creating a sexy warrior style. You too could rock a power pony: Work styling whip into hair and pull into a ponytail. Then make sure to wrap a section of hair around the elastic to conceal it organically and fashionably. Top it all off with some attitude and you’re set. To see more inspirational looks from the Balmain collection, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart

At the much anticipated Alexander Wang show, the designer proved he still knows how to make cool downtown girls even cooler. The Wang Gang was more eclectic than ever this go around. Instead of uniform meh waves, Irina Kravchenko, Anna Ewers and Peyton Knight strutted down the runway in a variety of easy styles—from micro bangs to shoulder length bedhead, and shorn shags. The beauty team did a wonderful job bringing out each model’s personality and natural hair with just a bit of tousle, snip and reshaping. The no concept show, according to Wang was the epitome of modern. And the looks certainly paralleled it by presenting no singular idea of beauty. Denim, a motorcycle, and a blonde you would think you would be talking about something American, but this all Sweden. This biker look is hot in all the right ways. From her messy matte waves to her youthful half updo’s we are loving this inspiration and think it’s a great look to follow for fall. See the whole spread in the notes.

After days of meh hair and no-makeup makeup at the early rounds of the collections, Diane Von Furstenberg finally brought us some supermodel beauty glamour—inspired by herself. The hair and makeup were heavily influenced by Diane in her Studio 54 heydey with nods to the high-spirited ‘70s nightlife. The beauty team created the disco hair by prepping each catwalker’s hair with gel and setting the length with a curling wand before pinning in place. Thirty minutes before the show, the hair was brushed out to kinky perfection and topped with a floral hair accessory. Curls and exotic florals? Count me in! It’s not to late to rock this fresh look. TOMMY HILFIGER x RAFAEL NADAL Launch Global Brand Ambassadorship
Last week’s tennis match in Bryant Park brought fashion insiders and iconic athletes together to face off in the name of fashion—specifically, Tommy Hilfiger and Rafael Nadal’s new global brand ambassadorship. While I’m a big fan of seeing Rafael play in a suit and tie, it was the model’s couture-worthy ponytails that stole the show. Models Constance Jablonski, Chanel Iman and Hannah Davis all rocked easy slicked-back strands that were as perfect for the court as they are for the runway. It’s a look I’m ready to rock along the sidelines of the US Open, but it’s even great for back-to-school styles. Simply pull hair into a high ponytail, secure, and then wrap a one-inch strand from underneath around the base and pin. This look will be a definitely help you ace the autumn season.
