Shared with us by Peggie Huang, stylist at ARROJO Studio SoHo, we love both the artistry of this chunky plait on the bias, and the way the tail of the braid has been fanned out into wonderfully nonchalant wisps. Peggie was also kind enough to share her steps to creating this eye-catching look. Great for a night out, a weekend brunch, or even just keeping hair off of the neck in this Indian Summer, learn how to create it in the notes.

Perhaps musing over whether or not a 21st century version of an extravagant French queen would let them eat cronuts, CR Fashion Book dedicated their new issue to Marie Antoinette. The highlight is this delicious editorial, starring Lara Stone as the iconic royal. The racy, sexy images put Marie Antoinette into a modern cityscape wearing denim and dresses paired with a sensational messy updo accented with vines and twines. It’s great inspiration for vamping up any look. See all images below.  Click for StyleNotes →

In the sunny season, it often feels like your hair is just another layer of cushioning meant to keep you sweaty and incredibly uncomfortable. I get it, by mid-day despite all your primping, you probably just want to throw your tendrils up into a basic bun and hope you don’t get invited out last minute. Or you could opt to beat the heat and humidity and wear a very in and cool hair do, like a braided top knot. This style will get your hair off your neck and keep you looking chic all day long. In case you haven’t noticed, half-up topknots have been practically everywhere the last few months, on the heads of models and all over Instagram. And there are plenty of reasons to embrace this look, it’s perfect for days your hair is too messy or even too dirty too wear down, but you don’t really want to hide all of it. And depending on your style, you can either wear it casual or dressed up. Personally I love it when the look has a little more attitude, which is why I love adding the French braid detail to it. And you don’t even need much time to execute it. Click through to the notes to learn how to emulate this style. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

Photo: Jen Atkin x Chloe + Isabel,

Think chic cuffs are only for your wrists? Think again. The new trending decoration, the bun cuff, is an amazing multifunctional accessory that doubles as jewelry for your hair. It’s the perfect way to dress up your top knot, messy bun, or half-up style and is completely effortless to wear. I’ve spotted some amazing options on Free featuring statement stones and elastic backs which are fabulous for the festival circuit. Or if you’re into a more a minimalist chic look, the Jen Atkin x Chloe +Isabel collaboration has contemporary, metallic cuffs, secured by a U-shaped pin. I’ve also seen ladies on Instagram rocking the cuffs on their wrists as bracelets, which is definitely more fashionable than rocking a black hair tie. Are you ready to wear this trendy game-changer?
