The trend toward looking undone is finally pushing over into actually going au natural: women are letting their hair air dry and forgoing makeup. But what about hair color? We’re still seeing pastels and rainbow strands, but at the other end of the spectrum natural looks keep getting more and more subtle. Ombre has turned into sombre and highlights into babylights. It’s getting genuinely hard to tell whether people color their hair or not, which begs the question, will we just stop? Is not coloring your hair the next trend in hair color? Air-drying hair is a topic I’ll never get sick of revisiting. First, because I gave up my hairdryer years ago for Jewish lent (ok that doesn’t really exist, but I needed an excuse). Second, because it’s really the best option if you want to have healthy hair AND want to shorten your morning routine (lazy beauty junkie here!) I actually really love my hair natural and a bit messy, so you may too. So if you want to leave the house without a hair care in the world, click through to style notes to learn how to give your air-dried hair the best life ever. –– Michelle Rotbart  Click for StyleNotes →

Zendaya-Coleman-In-Vivienne-Westwood-2015-Oscars

Soft updos and romantic waves are red carpet staples, but Disney star Zendaya Coleman’s hair, styled in locks, had everyone talking at this year’s Academy Awards. Coleman’s hairstyle brought a cool, alternative vibe to her traditional dress, and showcased the beauty of African American culture in the predominantly white award show community. Despite one prejudiced comment from E! News host Giuliana Rancic, who said Coleman looked like she smelled “like patchouli oil and weed,” the young star received much praise and support for her look by celebrities. In the spirit of Zendaya’s powerful change up, find styling inspiration for rocking highly textured tresses au natural in the notes. –– Olivia Paladino
