Graduate school has landed me in the small town of Milledgeville, GA, home of the famous southern writer, Flannery O’Connor. O’Connor loved birds, and peacocks in particular. She kept dozens of peafowl on her farm, Andalusia, and often wrote about them. Three of them live there today, and on a recent visit, as I admired their luminous feathers, a combination of rich brown, blue and green, I thought about translating the shades from feathers to hair filaments. Blue and green are lovely choices for accents if you have a dark brown base, and with the right application, they can look as brilliant as peacock feathers.
