You already know that washing your hair every day can dry it out and make your color fade faster, and yet, you can’t seem to give up the habit. You’ve tried skipping a day or two and your hair looks terrible: your hair line breaks out, your roots look greasy, and your strands feel limp and lifeless. You’ve seen all the cute “second day” hairstyles but your second day hair is only fit for a ponytail. You know that if you could suffer through a few months of bad hair everything would even out, but you can’t just look rough for 3 months! Sound familiar? Click the notes and learn my secrets for transitioning into less frequent shampooing without looking or feeling terrible. –– Laura Martin Click for StyleNotes →

This Memorial Day weekend, whether you’re headed home or on a fabulous trip you’ll definitely want to arrive in style. Without a doubt the airport is one of the best places to spot great celebrity style. So while last week I did a whole post on  inspirational red carpet at Cannes, this week I’m focusing on the wealth of beauty and sartorial style seen at the city’s airport terminals. My favorite stylish celebrities, and their fabulous hair touched down in either long and loose cascading waves or more low-maintenance raked-back braids and ponytails. Either way, these were some high impact looks. So whatever your style there is a great jet setter with great hair guaranteed to inspire you the next time you’re packing your bags. I often struggle with figuring out the best and easiest ways to adorn my hair. Usually I like to just let it go loose and wavy, but there are times that I need to put it up. I like to use barrettes at the base of my ponytail but I kept finding that they would constantly become unfastened. This became really annoying until I figured out how to actually get one to stay in. It’s a quick and easy trick and will definitely ensure your pony stays clipped. To learn my trick, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart  Click for StyleNotes →

Wet-look hair shows off texture and offers a fresh, clean feeling that’s perfect for spring, but the sleek texture can feel severe. By adding height to wet looks, you can soften the look, keeping dewiness and separation while softening the silhouette. Try a voluminous wet surface on soft loose waves, ponytails, and half-up looks. Learn to create it in the notes. –– Laura Martin Click for StyleNotes →
