New York Fashion Week kicked off this week with killer runway shows by the likes of Calvin Klein and Tory Burch and the highly-anticipated release of Rihanna’s beauty line. One instant headliner was Tom Ford’s show where Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid rocked a dramatic hair change. Tom Ford had all of his models pin their luscious locks into barely noticeable twists and texturized their crowns to create disheveled wispy pixies! And with that, the trend for bombshell boy cuts begins!
The Met Gala is most notably known as a star-studded evening filled with glitterati and paparazzi honoring a designer of choosing, and this year’s honoree was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcon. As daring as the fashion choices were (as to be expected with such an eponymous designer), we saw everything from peacock-adorned dresses to wearable forms of art such Rihanna’s sculptural, multi-layered gown. With such an outlandish and exaggerated theme, it would only be expected that hair and makeup would be be competing to be outrageous and forthright as well.
With texture trending, there were a surprising amount of slicked center-part bobs, which were a nice breath of fresh air. Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid were those who opted for the classic style, while others such as Rose Byrne and Gigi Hadid took a more tousled approach paying homage to natural textures.
Even more daring, was Zendaya Coleman who stepped out in more of an editorial-inspired shoulder grazing, three-dimensional texturized look.
Gearing up to more jaw-dropping looks were those such as Kate Hudson, who donned a silver-bleached exaggerated top knot and even more daring was Cara Delevingne with what seemed to be a silver-painted, bedazzled freshly painted buzzed head.
And the most Avant-Garde of them all? Katy Perry, who ditched the hair-scene overall by covering her locks with a red voluminous veil.
So might you ask yourself our favorites over here at Style Noted Towers? Lets start with Lily Collins’ blunt, dark brown bob and Rihanna’s piece-y top knot with textured bangs. We also were a big fan of J-Lo’s flowing locks that made us reminisce of repunzel.
This cheery prediction for the future of fashion features Rihanna as Furiosa, protagonist from Mad Max: Fury Road. Colorful and graphic, the spread sparkles with Cartier jewels and Maison Margiela Haute Couture. Emphasizing a new world theme for fall fashions, the final image in the collection presents the Barbadian singer in a tiara, as if she conquered a post-apocalyptic planet. See it all below. . .
