It’s getting to be that time of the year— the time where you are itching to change up your look. The weather is changing, your memorial day vacation is right around the corner & you want a fresh & exciting new cut to perk up your morning routine. If you haven’t already noticed, the hair trends are getting shorter and shorter. Last year was dominated by the ever-trendy Lob and now we are seeing a spike in pixies, shags, and straight up buzz cuts.

The Met Gala is most notably known as a star-studded evening filled with glitterati and paparazzi honoring a designer of choosing, and this year’s honoree was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcon.  As daring as the fashion choices were (as to be expected with such an eponymous designer), we saw everything from peacock-adorned dresses to wearable forms of art such Rihanna’s sculptural, multi-layered gown.  With such an outlandish and exaggerated theme, it would only be expected that hair and makeup would be be competing to be outrageous and forthright as well.

With texture trending, there were a surprising amount of slicked center-part bobs, which were a nice breath of fresh air.  Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid were those who opted for the classic style, while others such as Rose Byrne and Gigi Hadid took a more tousled approach paying homage to natural textures.

Even more daring, was Zendaya Coleman who stepped out in more of an editorial-inspired shoulder grazing, three-dimensional texturized look.

Gearing up to more jaw-dropping looks were those such as Kate Hudson, who donned a silver-bleached  exaggerated top knot and even more daring was Cara Delevingne with what seemed to be a silver-painted, bedazzled freshly painted buzzed head.

And the most Avant-Garde of them all?  Katy Perry, who ditched the hair-scene overall by covering her locks with a red voluminous veil.

So might you ask yourself our favorites over here at Style Noted Towers?  Lets start with Lily Collins’ blunt, dark brown bob and Rihanna’s piece-y top knot with textured bangs.  We also were a big fan of J-Lo’s flowing locks that made us reminisce of repunzel.

Captured by high fashion photographer Steven Klein for W’s March cover story, Selena Gomez, wittingly or not, provides a perfect update to the beachy wave look. Rather than the big tumbling ‘C’ shaped swirls that ushered in this trend a few years ago, here we see a wet and wild, snaking wave.  With the subtle headband adding height to the crown, there’s a rakish 70s vibe going on.
