From Our Archives: Cameron Diaz & The Luscious Sideswept Bangs

BLONDE, CELEBRITY, COLOR, CUT, EVERYDAY, MEDIUM, NOTED, SLEEK, STYLE

This color and cut and style is incredibly beautifying. Multiple face-framing layers are a great way to add definition to the bone structure, while the shiny sideswept bangs make it impossible not to look into those alluring clear blue eyes. Overall it is a clever choice because Cameron’s hair is relatively fine, and comes with a soft natural wave. This organic movement plays into the cascading shape of the cut; meanwhile, the loose, free-flowing design also means that she doesn’t have to worry about her style holding its structure, which can be a problem for finer hair types who go for overly structured styles. Multi-dimensional golden blonde highlighting adds final touches of glister, shimmer, and shine.

Lea Michelle’s Chocolate Brown Color Touch

BRUNETTE, CELEBRITY, EVERYDAY, LONG, MEDIUM, SLEEK

lea-michele-dark-0610-mdn

We love this look because it comes with vibrant shine, healthy glow –– two things that should never be underestimated in hairstyles. The dark chocolate brown is bold, intense and rich, with scintillating brilliance. The long length with layers and side-part is a feminine classic, encouraging eyes to drift over her own peepers, and down to cheekbones and chin. For tips on shaping this look, click style notes.

Trending: Film Noir Inspires New Wave of Glamorous Hair

We love a good vamp, especially the Old Hollywood kind. During the hype of the Film Noir era of the ‘40s and ‘50s, femme fatale dominated the silver screen. The tailored dresses, the bold lip, the seductive come-hither look. Hair-wise, you can channel your inner femme fatale with a deep side part and a Veronica Lake-inspired wave cascade. An easy way to add asymmetry, this timeless style gives sophistication and class –– with minimal effort. A deep part is flattering on all face shapes, and leaves lots of hair to play with on the long side. As seen in the collage above, today’s bad girls are flaunting their own versions of Veronica’s glamorous look. You can too. For tips on creating the deep sweep, click style notes.

From Our Archives: Olivia Palermo’s Gorgeous Chestnut Waves

BLOGGER, BRUNETTE, COLOR, CUT, EVERYDAY, MEDIUM, NOTED, SEXY, STYLE

Even for Olivia, this is a stand-out style. A vintage, fashionable look, it follows the seventies-inspired trend for the drop down wave –– a wave that goes from straight at the crown to tousled down below –– but features a lustrous, modern take. The shiny chestnut brown and the bountiful shape of the tumbling waves combine to create a sultry and seductive, yet elegant and beautiful aesthetic. Wear this style on a romantic date night!

Beyonce Wears a Retro Beach Wave

BRUNETTE, CELEBRITY, EBONY, LONG, SEXY

BN89OrkP8Lpl

Reminiscent of the tumbling, peek-a-boo glamor wave of 1940s style icon, Veronica Lake, Beyonce wore this style for her new H&M ad campaign. Full of feminine mystique, the look benefits from the asymmetrical, short to long face-frame and the tumbling wave cascade. Beyonce’s sweeping hair and seductive gaze epitomize timeless Hollywood glamor, while the ornate accessory adds visual balance to the look. Beach waves are back in fashion for spring and summer; this style fits that modern trend, yet retains old world elegance and class –– perfect for an occasion. To create the look, the key ingredient is a consistent wave pattern. To learn how to do it, click style notes.
