tousled hair

Many of us love tousled hair because there’s no pressure. No need to keep everything in place totally perfectly. You actually want your hair to be messy and out of place. A little beachy or a bit windblown are things that you’re looking for when getting your hair into its tousled state. However, there is an art to messing up your hair in the correct way. Every time you see a model or celebrity looking perfectly disheveled you know there’s a pro behind it. Her explanation of R&B may have lacked luster, but Zendaya can still pull off a shimmering hairdo. Seen walking the red carpet to the Billboard Music Awards, the popster shows off a sleek straight style, reminiscent of the keratin-straight look made famous in the ‘90s. This glamorous high shine finish is great for a night on the town. Learn how to recreate it at home. . .   Click for StyleNotes →

So I just found out I’m headed to Paradise City—ahem—the Guns N’ Roses concert in July. Not only can I not wait to see Axl and Slash but I can’t wait to relive the early ‘90s. (Ok so I was only a toddler then but hey I was alive!) To pull together my look, I’ll be pulling out my cutoff denim and vintage t-shirt courtesy of Forever 21. But no outfit is complete without a great hair do. After doing a little research I found an amazing rock and roll pony that is anything but basic. It’ll get my strands out of my face and keep my cool while I’m singing along to ballads, lighter in hand. Will I see you there? You don’t have to be concert bound to wear this look. Since I’m still obsessing over NOT being on spring break I’m going to stick to the theme and give you the low down on how to prevent frizz while you’re away at some fabulous resort in Mexico.  Once you stop fighting your hair and simply work with it to prevent the fluff that occurs when humidity happens, you’ll be a much happier person. Most of these solutions require little more than two steps, so no need to pack all your products and tools to tame flyaways and calm frizz. All you need is some fineness and some miracle stylers, and of course a fabulous hat. Click through to style notes to get the details. ––  Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →
