If you’re anything like me, these last few days have been spent waking up late, eating brunch, and watching movies—which means your hair has basically been a combination of bedhead and messy bun. But in just two days it will be the end of 2015, which means it will be your last opportunity to wear the festive and prim styles you’ve been holding onto since this time last year. While I know it’s difficult to let go of the bedhead, you should welcome the new year with a great do. When I think of gelled hair all I can think about is my 90s looks of crunchy gel waves and curls that I thought were amazing. They don’t look so amazing anymore but Gel is still a great product to have in your arsenal to create modern, chic, and fashion forward styles. It’s all about using it sparingly and in the right way. A touch of gel adds just the right amount contemporary feel to lots of looks. So how do you bring this product into your strands? Click the notes. –– Kelly Rowe

The trends we see on the runway don’t always translate to real life, but when it comes to celebrities like Rihanna, rules don’t apply. The fashionable it-girl was spotted in NYC last weekend rocking short-shorts and an extra-long ponytail similar to the ones we saw at Bottega Veneta, Kenzo, and Chanel. Singer Selena Gomez tried the trend on too, rocking a slick ponytail with a simple black ribbon at the Teen Choice Awards. We’re guessing some faux locks helped put together both looks, so anyone with long length, or a penchant for clip-in extensions, can rock this trend.
