After a long week, I decided to splurge and treat myself to a fancy blowout. After dropping some time and some dough, you know that as soon as I left the salon, my only mission was to keep my polished tendrils intact for as long as possible—through the weather, gym, and even date night. Aside from the normal use of refinish dry shampoo on the second, third, and maybe fourth day there are a few slightly odd ways I’ve heard will prolong my blow out and perhaps yours. I’m considering trying these, I think you should to! Click through to style notes to see the things we should all be doing in the name of style. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →

Captured by high fashion photographer Steven Klein for W’s March cover story, Selena Gomez, wittingly or not, provides a perfect update to the beachy wave look. Rather than the big tumbling ‘C’ shaped swirls that ushered in this trend a few years ago, here we see a wet and wild, snaking wave.  With the subtle headband adding height to the crown, there’s a rakish 70s vibe going on. If you love looking a bit of a louche, steal this style in the notes.  Click for StyleNotes →

In time for party season, Hilary Duff debuted a hot new hair makeover on social media.  The Younger actress flaunted her just cut choppy chin-length bob on Instagram over the weekend and it’s sexy, sassy and fresh. A cool and modern update on the bob, this is a great cut to copy for many women. It can add expression to narrow faces or highlight the contours of rounder faces. It’s definitely a look to try in the new year. Once you get the cut, you’ll want to know how to wear this carefree, undone look. Undone and touchable lived-in waves are coveted by cool girls everywhere, but you don’t have to be a model to wear them. I love perfectly disheveled hair, mostly because I like to roll out of bed and go. While some of us can roll out of bed and show up anywhere, coffee in hand, and still manage to look amazing, not all of us have that luxury. So when the morning or evening calls for devil-may-care waves use a few simple tips and products to achieve the textured tresses of your dreams. –– Michelle Rotbart Click for StyleNotes →
