New York Fashion Week kicked off this week with killer runway shows by the likes of Calvin Klein and Tory Burch and the highly-anticipated release of Rihanna’s beauty line. One instant headliner was Tom Ford’s show where Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid rocked a dramatic hair change. Tom Ford had all of his models pin their luscious locks into barely noticeable twists and texturized their crowns to create disheveled wispy pixies! And with that, the trend for bombshell boy cuts begins!

Tom Ford kicked off London Fashion week in none other than Los Angeles, so it’s no surprise the beauty looks in his Fall ’15 collection pulled inspiration from Old Hollywood –– as well as his usual sex appeal. Per style.com, the inspiration for the hair was a lot of volume on top, like Tippi Hedren, the Hitchcock heroine. To create the looks, the beauty team slicked strands back and off the face and teased the crown, blasting it with a texturizing spray. After pulling hair to one side, extensions were added and braided into a bun. The final look was prim, but not entirely proper––a great interpretation of what Tom Ford sees as LA beauty. I love it when a designer bucks the trend and creates something completely unexpected, and Tom Ford’s Spring Summer 2015 ready-to-wear show was nothing if not unexpected. Dark hues, heavily made-up eyes, platform shoes and sexy shaggy hair made his runway presentation a controversial standout. In a season of understated style, a touch of 70s glam rock was like a breath of fresh air, a great reminder that it takes all kinds, in any season. Cause a stir with grungy glamour, learn how in the style notes. –– Laura Martin

Sexy minx Rihanna covers Elle UK’s April issue. The singer reprised her editorial look, via fashion editor Anne-Marie Curtis and photographer Mariano Vivanco, who captured the sultry bad girl for two covers. Wearing River Island pieces paired with a Louis Vuitton crop top from Spring / Summer ’13 and a Prada stole, she is styled in trending monochromatic wears, and other vanguard pieces from du jour designers like Alexander Wang, Tom Ford, and Martin Margiela. Nevertheless, the House of Flora geometric sunglasses were our favorite accessory –– two pairs for us please. Beauty-wise, Rihanna does not disappoint. Her messy pixie cut and red pout enhance the fitted fashions she wears with dripping allure.
