TOMMY HILFIGER x RAFAEL NADAL Launch Global Brand Ambassadorship
Last week’s tennis match in Bryant Park brought fashion insiders and iconic athletes together to face off in the name of fashion—specifically, Tommy Hilfiger and Rafael Nadal’s new global brand ambassadorship. While I’m a big fan of seeing Rafael play in a suit and tie, it was the model’s couture-worthy ponytails that stole the show. Models Constance Jablonski, Chanel Iman and Hannah Davis all rocked easy slicked-back strands that were as perfect for the court as they are for the runway. It’s a look I’m ready to rock along the sidelines of the US Open, but it’s even great for back-to-school styles. Simply pull hair into a high ponytail, secure, and then wrap a one-inch strand from underneath around the base and pin. This look will be a definitely help you ace the autumn season. Back in 2009, when Chanel Iman was spotted backstage at the Tommy Hilfiger show sporting bright green DJ headphones, there was a rush to trade the standard white ear buds for the extra large versions typically worn in the booth of a club. Then, when Karl Lagerfeld sent braided and quilted versions down the the Chanel Fall ‘14 and Métiers d’Art ’15 runways, the trend started to catch on. Most recently, Garage featured covers of models Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Binx Walton, and Lara Stone all rocking very futuristic headsets. So as fashion and technology continue to fuse, could headphones really be the next big hair accent? This functional accessory is looking more fashion savvy than ever, but let’s just hope traditional headbands don’t go the way of the portable CD player. There’s something about Zooey Deschanel that screams sixties. Whether it’s her style, bangs, or commitment to the role of everyone’s favorite Manic Pixie Dream Girl, her aesthetic resonated with Tommy Hilfiger, who picked her up for his new “To Tommy” collection, a line of flirty wares inspired by the counterculture decade. Most importantly, her hair is fabulous. Wearing her signature full fringe –– which is always perfectly placed to highlight her remarkable eyes –– with a classic long layer shape, the New Girl is finding a new home amongst the fashion elite.
