This cheery prediction for the future of fashion features Rihanna as Furiosa, protagonist from Mad Max: Fury Road. Colorful and graphic, the spread sparkles with Cartier jewels and Maison Margiela Haute Couture. Emphasizing a new world theme for fall fashions, the final image in the collection presents the Barbadian singer in a tiara, as if she conquered a post-apocalyptic planet. See it all below. . . Captured by high fashion photographer Steven Klein for W’s March cover story, Selena Gomez, wittingly or not, provides a perfect update to the beachy wave look. Rather than the big tumbling ‘C’ shaped swirls that ushered in this trend a few years ago, here we see a wet and wild, snaking wave.  With the subtle headband adding height to the crown, there’s a rakish 70s vibe going on. With her distinctive features, bleached-blonde hair, and punk-rock attitude Debbie Harry will always be a darling of fashion and style. The latest star to take on her iconic 80s image is modern beauty, Scarlett Johansson. Pictured for the cover story of W, the voluptuous leading lady hardly has the same body shape, and her plain-vanilla virtues are no match for Debbie’s badass ways, but even so, she looks great. Her hairstyle is particularly reminiscent of the pioneering songstress; learn how to create your own retro-inspired 80s ‘do in the notes.

Old time luxury brand Balmain has built its return to relevance by putting their wares on a cast of iconic women of the world. The strategy shows no signs of abating with this shoot for W’s important September Fashion Issue. Starring 1980s and 1990s style darlings Iman and Naomi alongside Rihanna, a contemporary pretender to fashion’s throne, the girls wear military and tribal-inspired designs from the French fashion house. We love the sleek, dramatic hair –– it spotlights the remarkably similar bone structure of three of the most photographed women in the world. See more images in the Style Notes.

Sultry French actress Lea Seydoux rocks a new ‘do in W Magazine’s October issue. The look, a modern pageboy, is causing some major envy –– tongues are wagging about the ‘hair cut of the season.’ The pageboy, first popularized in the 1950s, was once the it look amongst A-list stars and fashionable ladies, and now it has been covered by the glossy’s, it’s sure to return. Easy to maintain and flattering on various faces shapes, some may doubt the femininity of this cut, but I’ve never seen Lea look more sexy.
