We spotted this American Wave on Instagram. Created by stylist Becky Morey at Salon361 in Ohio, we love the full and thick curvaceous texture and the easy, lived-in aesthetic. Embraced by celebrities such as Emma Stone, American Wave has been trending on the underground for a while now, but with styles like these coming to the fore, expect to see American Wave tumbling down a Main Street near you. tousled hair

Many of us love tousled hair because there’s no pressure. No need to keep everything in place totally perfectly. You actually want your hair to be messy and out of place. A little beachy or a bit windblown are things that you’re looking for when getting your hair into its tousled state. However, there is an art to messing up your hair in the correct way. Every time you see a model or celebrity looking perfectly disheveled you know there’s a pro behind it. We adore this look created by the ARROJO NYC editorial team for the Irina Vitjaz presentation at New York Fashion Week AW ’17. A vintage glamor wave, with one side tucked behind the ear and the other side tumbling forwards, over the neck and shoulders, a soft asymmetrical effect is created, one which encourages the eyes of an admirer to drift all across the face frame, taking in the model’s high jawline, sultry eyes, and perfect pout. Best of all, with the right tools and techniques you can recreate this look at home in 15-20 minutes. Learn how below.  Click for StyleNotes →

Shoulder-length hairstyles are usually styled sleek and smooth, or allowed to air dry for the natural texture of a wash and wear style. But adding bouncy volume is another great option. Extra oomph is always sexy, especially when paired with tousled waves. The image above is a great example. The off -center center part creates soft asymmetry for fulsome waves to hang deliciously off of the shoulder. This style works best on minimally layered cuts that sit on – or just above or below – the shoulder. Click through the style notes for tips on getting lots of body in mid-length hairstyles. Despite the cold, bodaciously beautiful Ashley Graham stepped out on the streets of Manhattan yesterday flaunting her figure in a see-through ensemble.  What most excited us at Style Noted, however, was her perfectly flowing locks with just the right amount of “undone”.  With side swept bangs, and a daring gaze, Graham sure looked the part –– the color, cut and style are all to kill for. As the model ramps up for her first season as a Judge on America’s Next Top Model (tonight), we are not only excited for her to show her modeling industry know-how and business-woman insight, but also for the hairstyles that will be showcased every Monday from the gorgeous model.  It’s going to be great for winter hairstyle inspiration! See below for Style Notes on this trending look. –– Brittany Taylor  Click for StyleNotes →
