This dark earthy gold hue is an ancient pigment with a deep sunny golden hue. It adds earthy warmth to skin and provides a gorgeous contrast for both light and dark eye colors. It’s a deep blonde, but lighter than bronde, and the warm tone makes it feel brighter than dishwater shades. You may be tempted to add more gold to the formula, but it’s not necessary. The natural remaining pigments from lifting contribute a perfect dose of sunny yellow-gold. Click the style notes for application tips and the professional formulation. –– Laura Martin

Bright, sunny golden-peach strands are the perfect cure for winter doldrums. Adding warmth to pale shades gives them a shiny, healthful glow and provides a stunning contrast to pale skin. Try the coral0blonde base shade on its own, or add even more vibrancy by dusting ends with a wash of copper or goldenrod. This color has a much stronger golden base than the peachy version that reigned this summer, giving it a metallic luster and rich tone reminiscent of sunsets. The short shape with its tightly tapered nape and long swingy front reminds us of the no-nonsense look worn by Robin Wright on House of Cards. The tabloids are crediting the chop to her pregnancy, but it could just be that she’s feeling powerful after her recent roles in Lucy, and as Natasha Romanoff, the Soviet spy.
