Whatever your job, it is usually what you are best at, whether that’s through talent or practice. And people then start to ask you to help them, outside of work, with your expertise. Like the mechanic who fixes the neighbors car or the photographer roped into to shooting the wedding of a friend. Similarly, hair stylists know exactly what to do with their own hair everyday. and most of the time do it unthinking, with an effortless flick. Click the notes for hair stylist hair habits you should steal from the pros.

Don’t fuss when you don’t have to. If you don’t have to “do” your hair, don’t. The less you fuss with your hair the less stress on it and the less damage.

Know the importance of products and then use them. Hair stylists know what every product does and how to use it without thinking about it. This lets them get styles right on the first try or protect strands from high heat. Ask your stylist for a quick product lesson the next time you visit them.

Always use a concentrator nozzle or diffuser. Perfect blowouts only happen when you have a nozzle attached to your dryer. It makes it possible to control and direct airflow. Diffusers are the only way to dry waves and curls frizz free if you don’t have the time for an air dry.

Wash your their hair only a couple times a week. Over washing leads to color fading and dry hair. Keep washing to a minimum.

When you are growing out your hair you don’t get creative with color. What most clients don’t understand is that changing your hairs color often leads to damage, which leads to short hair. If you are growing long locks stick to simple color.

Detangle hair before bed. Any tangles in hair before bed are only going to get much worse after you sleep on them. Trying to get them out in the morning is going to lead to lots of little broken pieces. Brush hair at night and be left with softer hair in the morning.

Don’t emulate trends adopt qualities from them. Celebrity trends that appear don’t work for everyone and copying, say, Victoria Beckham’s asymmetrical bob, may be terrible for your hair texture or face shape. Take the qualities you like about the trend and adopt to you and your style.
