I recently stumbled across an article that talked about cutting your hair according to the moon. Sounds crazy right? Absolutely, and that is why I had to read it. I take this kind of thing with a grain of salt but that doesn’t mean I don’t have an insatiable appetite to read more. While it does seem silly to tailor your hair care around what the moon is doing, the article does make a couple cool points. Click the notes for more. –– Kelly Rowe

If you read anything into horoscopes this may mean something to you but it’s also just a fun tidbit to try anyway.

The article discusses how the moon has power over growth because it has gravitational pull on objects. My best example and understanding of this would be the tides in the ocean. I guess if the moon can move an ocean there is a good chance it can move your hair.

If one accepts this logic, the pull on your strands will be the strongest when the moon is getting larger (waxing) towards a full moon. The article states that this is the best time to get a haircut because it will encourage healthy hair growth and, on top of that, getting a cut with a full moon in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) will give you the best result because these signs are associated with fertility and regrowth. Since it’s such perfect time for hair health, conditioning treatments are recommended during these times for effectiveness, although conditioning treatments are great year round anyway.

Does all this work? Who knows?! But as I am always on a mission to grow my hair long and strong I think I am going to give it a try. You can read the full article here.
