bobby pins

The bobby pins are coming out. Though once looked at as purely functional hair need meant to be disguised, there’s no need to hide those pins anymore. Made much more stylish on the Spring 2015 runways, bobby pins went from a necessity to the must have accessory. Fashionable gals are using them as a simple way to elevate looks. We’re loving the new take on an old favorite and we’ve got three cools styles to help you pin this trend in place. Click through to style notes for the details. –– Michelle Rotbart

Side Twist

If you’re looking for a way to get creative with a down do, but want to keep hair out of your face, an easy twist of a front tendril or even a small braid will do the trick. Secure the your style with a colorful bobby pin or use two to crisscross them for an added dimensional detail.

Pulled Back

Feeling carefree? Just pull hair back and start pinning. With no technique or guide, just pin hair where it feels loose. It’s creative and even romantic and will keep your hair back when you need.

Creative Placement

For a cool graphic element, grab some metallic or colorful pins and create fun creative designs. You can crisscross pins, or fan them out in a V shape, or create triangles along the sides of your head.
