air dry

The last thing you want to do on a humid summer day is blast your hair with a blowdryer. Seriously it’s just too hot and who actually has time to spend on their hair when there are plenty of amazing outdoor concerts, beach parties and summer soirees to attend. So to get you out the door faster, there are some great tips on how to air-dry your hair at any length. Click through to style notes to get the details. –– Michelle Rotbart

Note: Before you begin, make sure to remove excess water from your hair using only a microfiber towel or paper towels. This helps reduce frizz and breakage.

Short Hair: Apply a handful of texture paste to the ends of damp hair and then twist locks in sections. Remember to be random and don’t over-do the style. Once complete, don’t touch hair again because over-handling promotes frizz. Let your hair air-dry and once it’s almost completely dry spray in shine spray for additional glossiness

Medium Hair: Apply styling whip from roots to ends and then braid your hair into sections. Let hair air-dry overnight and in the AM undo plaits and shake out your hair. For additional texture and movement, complete your look with refinish.

Long Hair: Work in five pumps of volume foam and the spray in wave mist from roots to ends. Twist hair into two buns, one on the very top of your head and the other at the nape. Secure with a scrunchy. Let hair completely air dry and then let down. Use your finger to comb through from a wavy tousled style. Finish the the look with a blast of primp.
