Texture and movement in hair continues to grow as a trend within the beauty landscape. It stared on the runway when designers began celebrating textured locks and curls ––pairing them with classic and avant-garde looks. Then it moved to the editorial world, across various brand campaigns and on to the front covers of chic magazines. Emulating the styles of the runway is difficult at times, but adding texture to your hair is an easy way to upgrade your everyday look; all you need is a little primping. There are many products to use to add more movement in to your locks. Click through to style notes to learn about my favorites. –– Michelle Rotbart

Cream Wax

A fantastic product for adding movement, definition, and shape. It’s a versatile styling product, that can be used by men and women with short or mid length hair. It doesn’t build up, so you can use as much as you want and creates a matte finish. Just work in to palms and finger through hair.

Texture Paste

Perfect for adding piece-y-ness into hair, it also contains beneficial ingredients like Vitaman B5 and oat proteins. This is the product that will give you the I-Just rolled out of bed-and-still-look-good cool look. Use in damp or dry hair for the best modern imperfect styles.

Curl Enhancer

A favorite of mine when creating beach waves and enhancing natural curl. This product is great for ladies who want to be on trend with the summer’s hottest look, whether you’re a beach bum, or only pretend to be. Apply to damp hair and cup curls and squeeze from ends to roots.

This hero product will push you past glamorous and into brick house status. It creates texture, volume, and thickens hair. A few sprays from roots to ends, not only soaks up excessive oils, but creates gritty movement, desired tousle, and touchable wave.
