braids

This look combines the sweet femininity of milkmaid braids with the toughness of cornrows for a style that’s both edgy and girly. Soft makeup and floral accents add playfulness. It’s a great way to add a little balance to your flirty summer ensembles. Click the style notes for step-by-step instructions. –– Laura Martin

Step: Start with clean, dry hair. Section off the front hairline into a row, at least 1” wide from ear to ear. Clip remaining hair securely out of the way.

Step: Run a dab of shine luxe oil through from roots toward scalp and comb to remove tangles. Part section in the center.

Step: Beginning on the right side of the part, braid hair using strong tension and an inverted French braid technique. Keep fingers close to the scalp to prevent looseness. Braid to temples and secure ends with small clear hair bands.

Step: Divide remaining hair into halo sections, beginning braids at the nape, and wrapping around the entire head, blending one halo into the next in a continuous spiral. When all hair is braided, finish with holding spray.
