There’s no one haircut that is low-maintenance for everyone. An easy, wash-and-go style depends on your particular hair type and texture. Medium density wavy hair cut into a long bob will look great with little more than a casual tousle, while the same cut on thick coarse hair will require serious styling to look polished. So what are the easiest, low-maintenance shapes for your hair? Click the notes to find out. –– Laura Martin

For coarse straight/wavy hair, try long layers. Length provides weight that helps to balance natural volume. Elongated layers around the face add movement and reduce bulk. Add a handful Hair Creme and twist thick sections to create a cool, casual finish.

For fine straight/wavy hair, try a chin-length blunt bob. Shorter length will keep hair light and bouncy while the blunt edge adds visual thickness. Spray with Wave Mist and massage roots to look perfectly tousled.

For fine curls, try a graduated bob. Slightly shorter length at the back narrows the silhouette of this shape while the strong geometry of the shape adds structure to coils. Twist in some Curl Definer and your ready to go.

For thick curls, try a shag. Lots of layers will add movement and reduce bulk, giving your hair structure while adding lightness. Scrunch in some curl control for a defined, shiny finish.
