Sarah Hyland ran off with the prize for the best fashion and beauty look at last night’s SAG Awards. Wearing a sophisticated yet youthful Vera Wang dress, the Modern Family star chose a sleek from the front contorted in the back version of the French twist hairstyle. The look is intricate and chic, offers lots of visual interest, and keeps all the hair off of the face and neck, so Sarah can show off her beautiful and delicate features. Learn how to create your own version of this style in the notes.
Step: Blowdry hair smooth using defrizz serum for a silky, frizz free finish. Make a side part, using hair gel to get a slick part. Comb rest of hair on both sides to the back, keeping it sleek to the head.
Step: Gather rest of the hair on the occipital bone and mist with refinish dry shampoo for texture and grip. Take a two inch section from both sides, cross over at the occipital and use two bobby pins placed in an X to hold together.
Step: In a simple, chunky braid pattern start braiding the left over hair all the way down to the ends. From the ends of the hair, fold and tuck the braid into itself in an artfully undone fashion.
Step: Once complete, pin all around to hold. Try to hide the pins in the shape. Pin in X patterns for the most security. Finish with primp for hold and shine.
