Nothing commands respect like your very own diadem. Wear one to a New Years Eve party, a Christmas bash, or on a night out with your besties. These classy crowns are a far cry from the gaudy tiaras favored by beauty pageant winners. They look powerful, regal, and elegant. Read on for tips on pulling of this queenly style. –– Laura Martin
Step: A crown should reflect your own personal style. If you’re a romantic try a looped chain circlet like the one pictured lower right; if your into an edgier look try a look like the one pictured upper left; for a boho style try a feathered crown like the one shown bottom left; for a glamorous look try a ring of tarnished jewels like the one pictured upper right.
Step: Keep makeup minimal to avoid a fussy appearance. A subtle smokey eye or a bit of gold shadow will add glamour without feeling overdone.
Step: Keep your hair soft and natural to balance the formality of the crown. A loose braid or soft, barely-there waves are perfect accompaniments. Use wave mist to create loose, wind-blown texture and air dry or diffuse strands for a natural finish.
